A note on eyes:
In the world of Ceridwen and Jelena, there are two strange things that can happen to one’s eyes:
One is actually not that rare; a magic user’s irises will eventually turn gold the more they use magic. When the gold begins to ‘leak’ outside the irises, producing an irregular golden shape, this is a sure sign that the magic user is overusing their power, and may die or go into a coma if they continue.
The second is very rare: when a Hero is chosen by the Braid of Eyes, their eyes become completely black, except for the left—the whites of their eyes are still black, but their iris is a bright color. If the Hero begins to become corrupted, their iris will shrink, and the pupil will disappear when they’re beyond saving. At that point, their body will also begin to transform, in a way reflecting the God who chose them. (For example, Ceridwen’s best friend, who used the fire aspect of the god of healing and fire, became corrupted and most of her skin became burnt, either being black and crusted or bubbling and melting.) They will approach what seems like godhood; no one knows what will happen if they aren’t stopped, because every ‘person’ who was corrupted like this was defeated in one way or another.
